(Medical Case Report Symposium)
“Supporting and Developing Young Talent in Medicine”
SIMON Case Reports in Internal Medicine 2026 is an effort of SIMON primarily aimed at supporting and developing the young generation in internal medicine to showcase their hard work and dedication in patient care. The secondary objective is to promote international visibility of the society by recommending young scientists to the Young Talents in Internal Medicine World Contest on a merit basis.
All cases of internal medicine can be submitted by clinicians but only those meeting the eligibility criteria set by Young Talents in Internal Medicine World Contest organizers can be recommended for the contest. The criteria can be found here.
Selected cases from the submitted case reports will be presented during the main event of SIMON Case Reports in Internal Medicine 2026.
The submitting/presenting author must be a medical doctor. Medical students and interns not having permanent registrations at the Nepal Medical Council should not submit as presenting authors. All authors should provide their ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID; www.orcid.org) if available.
The case report must be original observations on diagnosis or treatment. It must be an original work and must not be published before. It should represent either some form of rare conditions, or unusual presentation or complications of a relatively common condition, or a difficult path to diagnosis, or cases of high educational value for other reasons.
English (British) is the only language for submission, presentation and publication. Medical jargon should be avoided. The use of abbreviations should be limited, with preference for those recognized internationally. Abbreviations should be spelled out at first mention except for those commonly used (eg, ECG).
A structured abstract for submission must be 500 or less words long with 5 or less keywords and structured as follows.
All presentations must be made in the Power Point *.PPTX file. Any video must be in the MP4 (preferred), WMV, AVI format. It is recommended to prepare 10-12 powerpoint slides in widescreen format (16:9 aspect ratio). It is advisable to use standard Windows fonts only (avoid non-standard and language-specific fonts).
All materials for presentations must be submitted 7 or more days before the event. Any changes made after submission of the presentation can be made at the presentation console 2 hours or more before the time for presentation. Presentations have to be run from a laptop provided by the organizers. No private devices are allowed.
Total talk time will be 10 minutes. The first bell will be played at 6 minutes. The presenter must stop speaking at the second bell played at 8 minutes. The last 2 minutes will be reserved for mandatory interaction. If the presenter can’t finish on time and uses the time for interaction in presentation, such reports will be disqualified for contesting purposes.
Posters will be displayed electronically (dedicated on-site displays,
